Happy Easter

Hayley has moved home. Bored in Bendigo. So I thought I would update the blog so she can have something to entertain her for about thirty seconds.

Ten days and I will be back in Phuket. I can't wait at all, but I think it will be strange to be back where my overseas adventure began. Looking at my pictures I'm not even sure who that girl was. Prob over the week that I am there Ill get nosteligic and miss Annette. I'm really glad Joe has been willing ( ok maybe with a little persuading) to come with me. It will be interesting and hopefully relaxing.

My computer has been sick for a while. In Dubai it takes a long time to get anything done so its been at the repair shop for at least three weeks. I'm trying to deal with it the best I can. The withdrawals have been tough.

This past month I have been diagnosed with a slipped disc, and flat back syndrome, which sucks. Every day off I have I am at the Physio or Chiro. Ive been told I have to take up back stroke, Dad will be so proud.

Last month I went to Uganda. I was amazed at the green. For some reason I thought Africa was all desert. Uganda was like tropics. When I spoke to a lady at the airport about how amazingly green everything is, she said it is the dry season. The resort we stayed in was massive. You had to use golf buggys to drive from one end to the other. I went on a horse around the resort. Next time I will get up earlier and horse ride around the villiage. The other crew said it was unsafe but I think thats them being snobby. Driving along the road there were so many children sitting with their families in the sun. Very non threatening. I would have loved to have talked to the kids. The other thing I liked was the giant birds that sit in the trees. The trees look to small cos the birds are so big. Love it.

Last week I was in Brisbane and Auckland. I caught up with Kate in Brissy, whom I shared my london flat with. It was nice to see her again after eighteen months. We talked a bit and then went to the pokies. Sadly there was no jackpot won.

In Auckland I had lunch with a backpacker. He was 40 to 50, and talked about his love of travel with me in a busy food court. He showed me his passport ( syrian but lives in the US) which was very impressive. I have never seen so many stamps. Then he got out his camera and showed me photos of his experiences everywhere; Antarctica, the Amazon, Africa, Europe. He talked of living with amazon tribes and how he bonded with them so greatly he felt they were his family. He showed me photos of his place in LA. I found him confusing, he had clearly been travelling for at least ten years; I couldnt really work out how someone gets the money to do that. But I liked talking to him. He didnt want anything from me other then to share a minute of his passion for travel. He gave me his email said if I were in LA I should look him up.

At the moment unpaid leave has been offered and I have applied to have all of October off. I would like to go to south america for a month. While I cant see it being a good thing for the company. Its made me feel less anxious about my lack of time to do everything I want and balance Joes needs as well. I'm looking forward to some adventure. Intense experience. My plan at the moment is to finish my contract. Use my leave next year to go to Africa, and when I leave tour Asia for a month. Hopefully by then the travel bug will have died in me a little. I dunno. time will tell.

So thats about it for now. London tomorrow and Tuesday, Manila after that... Stay tuned for Phuket Pictures

Nagoya

Its been three months... I dont know where its gone..

Tonight I promised myself I would study for my upgrade that is in January. Of course I am doing everything but. Everytime I open the books my eye lids start to fall.

Just before Christmas I went to Nagoya. I liked it alot. I actually went out with the crew ( which is rare for me). We went to a restaurant where everyone had to take their shoes off. The menu was all in Japanese so we guessed a few dishes and ordered lots of sake and Asahi beer.

For some reason the first officers food came before everyone else. He was from New Zealand and was on the large size. I think they must have got confused when we ordered because in the space of around two hours, this first officer managed to order and eat about seven dishes before we even got our first. He also  had around six jugs of beer. When the bill came he got annoyed that we didnt want to split it evenly.

After that we went clubbing. I had a great time although I didnt really dress for the part. Going out with cabin crew is a different experience. Every club we would go to the guys would get out their ID cards. ' Ohh your cabin crew' the hostess' would exclaim. Then for some reason we would get a special rate or free drinks.

I had alot of tiny Japanese girls come up to me through out the night, usually with boyfriends in tow ' your so beautiful' they would say as they danced with me while their partner would watch... I get the feeling the Japanese like a bit of kink

This was apparent the next day as well when I went to the shops. Lots of different fashions. Lots of gothic or fairy tale type clothes in the store. They were weird shops. although all the people on the streets could rival london for their dress.

The food was so nice, I wish I could have had longer then two days.. I have two Osaka's this month though so I am looking forward to that.

After that was xmas which in one word was miserable.

In January I have five days off as well. Im off to Edinburgh with Joe and Em. It will be good although the thought of the travel makes me cry a little on the inside. I feel alot older then my 25 years. Sometimes it makes me sad that nothing seems to be fun anymore.

I wish for change.. I am hoping by the end of the year I will have actually saved some money and will be able to start something new. I am hoping to finish my course before then although really.. Business - what was I thinking....

I dont think im going to be happy untill i find a career that involves spirituality. Helping others to see their true potential.

Ive been reading alot about hypnotherpy. I am thinking about going for another regression .. I think it would point me in the right direction.

I'm going to London for NYE with any luck it should be better then xmas.

Malta Magic

Leave came and went. Malta was great apart from the haet as it was 35 degrees everyday.  The first few days with Joe were lovely. We did nothing, but sat in chairs by the water drinking wine and listening to a juke box. Everyone in Malta was really nice, although i think as a counrty they are a little wacky. Every day we were there they set off fireworks from a barge in the bay. There was no set time for them. Instead they would go off sporadically from about 8am to 11pm at night.

Mum arrived a Joe went home. The seperation anxiety get worse everytime. Mum and I did a bit more exploring. We went to Valetta, and did a tour of the island. The tour promised us a three course meal. This consisted of tin soup, chips and leather beef ad tin fruit. yummy!!!

It was realy too hot to do to much so alot of the time was spend sitting around. I didnt mind at all.It was nice not to smell a aircraft for ten days.

After leave I went to New York again. This time was better. I stayed in Brooklyn. The hotel was fantastic ( The Marriott chain pride themselves on having te most comfortable beds on the planet) It didnt have the manic vibe of time square. After spending a fortune on skin care. I sat in a restaurant and watched people making there way home. I could have almost have been in melbourne. The loads were good on the plane as well, being september 11 there were only 60 poeple on the plane. At the hotel we had a minute silence.. It was a little errie knowing we were about to fly back.

Next is London town.. to see Joe and Devon.. then Kula Lumpa and Bangladesh again:(

Looking forward to partying it up at the end of the month

Land of the Lost

The days all roll into one. Its so hard to keep track of this blog.

At the moment I seem to be going through a period of frustration. My two friends have been out of Dubai for so long, I'm pretty lonely. Mum came for two days on her way over to Italy. It was good to see her, but at the same time hard. She was enthusiastic about Dubai, I guess its a nice place if you are here for a couple of days. For me its hard to feel the same when i spend so much time on my own.  I showed her some malls.. its too hot for anything else.

I have applied for my business class promotion. Hopefully I will get it. I still want to do another year at least, it makes sense as i have this study to do and credit cards to pay, but i do sometimes dream about getting on a plane back to Havlin St, to hide under my old bed with LIlly. Sounds great in theory but in reality I would end up feeling just as lonley and lost there... so i keep going with Beckys words in my head about my being homesick for another plane and that ill find success through hard work and struggle because i overlooked the 'tranquil and happy' boxes in the pre-birth questionaire.

Maybe the roster gods will be kind next month and give me a Melbourne.

I caught up with Hayley and her parents in London the other week. It was nice to see them. We all went to dinner together. They had a great time on their trip to italy.

At the end of this month im going to Malta.... 3 days with Joe 4 with mum... hopefully it will help my mood

Beg Bugs

Got called out to Bangladesh- Dhaka... I think it would have to be the poorest place i have been. The flight was hell. The hotel was really nice .. definatly five star, however after sleeping in the bed i got a itchy rash all over my chest and i think its bed bugs.. horrible.

I went out of the hotel...I planned to go to the orphange however no one wanted to come with me and its not really that safe to go out on your own. I had saved up a massive bag of soap and shampoos so i gave them to the hotel reception as they had some bags they had to send to the orphange, so hopefully they got to the kids.

Instead i went to a market which sells all the H and M, Zara and top shop clothes.. ON the way there it was pretty tough as there are so many people on the streets that beg for  money. They kept banging on my taxi. Lots were missing arms or legs.

Got some tops, i had a whole entourage following me through the market. One guy was batering for me.. After i finished he demaned heaps of money. It got pretty full on as they other guy was doing it with the girl i went with. and there were masses of people all standing watching. we gave them some money.. not as much as they expected.. and got back in the taxi. They taxi driver was quite upset with us as he said the market was corrupt and we should not have paid them anything.

I dont think ill go back... next time ill make sure i go see the kids

At the airport on the way back there were heaps of children begging for money... its so hard to see.. but if you give one money they all demand it and it can get unsafe...

Two days off now.. Joes back in london .. wishing i would get a flight to see him. I booked my accomadation in greece for when i go with mum... pretty exciting
